The following advice is designed to answer some of the more commonly asked questions from potential customers and give guidance on getting the best out a Stratford Ecoboiler stove and ensuring many years of trouble free heating.

Contact your local Heating Engineer  or our shop in Church Road Boston Lincolnshire prior to ordering. Confirm the kW requirements of your system, it is important to match the kW output of the boiler to that required by your system. The number of radiators for an average installation given in the brochure is for guidance only, and should not be used alone for choosing the right size stove. Stratford ecoboiler stoves should only be installed in an indirect system. A flue draw measurement should be taken at the time of installation, an overdrawing flue should have the necessary work undertaken to reduce their draw. Uncorrected, an overdrawing flue may mean that the stove is unable to shut down and slumber once installed, this can cause over firing and may damage the appliance. A heat leak radiator should be installed which is 10% of the rated output of the boiler. This may not be required when installed with a thermal store. A radiator may be required in the room where the boiler is installed. A pipe stat must be fitted to the return hot water and set at 45°C on all pumped systems. A rust inhibitor should be added to the heating system once the engineer is happy there are no leaks from the system. If using solid fuel ensure only recommended fuels are used, and definitely no Petroleum based fuels. Please refer to your installation manual for further information. If burning wood use only seasoned, dry wood. Unseasoned and wet wood will burn inefficiently and can damage the flue and stove. For every twelve hours alight a period of fast burn should be undertaken for up to 20mins to ensure the flue is cleared. Check the thermostat damper flap regularly to ensure that it is able to close against the fire and no ash is blocking it. When not in use during the summer months, please leave both doors open, if possible lower the throat plate (Flue Exhaust Diversion System) to allow the maximum air movement through the fire. Use a releasing agent on all moveable components to stop rust from forming on them. Put a roll of paper against the back and sides of the firebox to absorb any condensation that may form on the internal boiler walls, change frequently. The chimney must be swept at least once a year if burning solid fuel and more often if wood is the main fuel source. Pipe work connections must be crossed flowed.
